Appropriate keyword density (KD) range?

Page 1 / 2

Keyword density range differs from one search engine to another. Google requires a maximum of 3% and Yahoo & MSN requires 5-6%.
To get listed in the top of the search engine search result page, the web page should maintain the minimum KD limit. For Google, there is no minimum KD limit mentioned. So, it is better to maintain 2%. For yahoo & MSN, it should be 5%. To stay away from any bad actions like banning your web page by the search engines, the web page KD value should not be more than the maximum KD limit. For Google, it should not exceed 3%. For yahoo and MSN, it should not exceed 6%.

Re: Appropriate keyword density (KD) range?

Well, that could be a good start in optimizing your content and your site but it is not the only factor that ranks your pages in search engines. Specially after all of the algo changes, there are now tons of other factors to consider.

Re: Appropriate keyword density (KD) range?

I think it is also important when calculating the keyword density to take into account the headings, the title and description for that page. Keyword density is important however keywords within your title, filenames and description will seem to carry more weight. Also, from my experience keywords within the first paragraph of your on page content will have more weight than keywords at the end of the page.

Re: Appropriate keyword density (KD) range?

For whatever reason misinformation has beat out mathematics and logic and people still believe in this nonexistent metric. Dishonest “SEO’s” propagate this myth. The theory of keyword density is easy to understand and sounds believable. Anyone who hasn’t been otherwise informed should buy into the concept. Unfortunately it just isn’t true.

Re: Appropriate keyword density (KD) range?

my opinion is 2% to 3% is the best choice. Then only the user wont feel like the keywords are stuffed in the content.

I heard somewhere it's between 2% and 4% of your website's word count.
