I think it depends on your business and where your potential customers are. For B2B use LinkedIn. Facebook and/or Google+ for end consumer marketing. Twitter I think works for most business types.

Great responses. It isn't a question of which social networking website can drive the most traffic but rather which social networking SITES are your best customers apart of. "Kevin Smith 619" said it best that it depends on their circles.

Obviously, there are the social giants Facebook and Twitter that might work for you. However, think of your industry and services - if you were your customers where would you be online? Perhaps those are industry blogs or forums (such as this one). Perhaps your business is to sell things that require SHOWING rather than just telling (ie. selling artwork) - then you should consider visual social networks like Pinterest or other album-type websites.

Whatever social networks you decide to focus on, just make sure you set your goals and determine what it is you want to achieve other than just 'drive traffic'.

It really depends on your business and your customers. What are your customers like? How old are they? What is their lifestyle? Where do they spend more time? For most small businesses who sell to consumers, Facebook & Twitter are the leaders, followed by Google+. Pinterest is also growing very quickly, particularly amongst women 24 to 54.

LinkedIn may be stronger for B2B, but Facebook is still important there too.
