Here are my suggestions for newbies:

1. only have pages that is enough to cater everything you have to offer. no need to force new pages per day as you wouldn't have any use for it and also remember 3 click rule - get your visitor in a page they need in just 3 or less clicks of the mouse
2. don't focus on page rank - your website will rank good if it deserves to be ranked well. PR does NOT control where you have to be ranked.

The best way to increase Pagerank is to get high PR links such as Squidoo, hub pages and also pages with high pr.

It's good information for SEO beginners and another thing that newbie should remember that if you want to increase your site popularity and ranking than you have to use original and good quality content in your site. Because Google become so strict to site content and if Google bot found any bad quality or copy content in your site than your site page rank could be decreased or your site could be get banned. So try to remove all the copy or duplicate content from your site.

If you are newbie than you should learn more about SEO. You should use white hat SEO or in simple terms you should work according to search engine rules. Use video submission for getting good traffic, it's become so effective nowadays because visitors like to watch something instead of read long articles.

The best two tips that a beginner should follow is from johnywalter2. Thanks for sharing. Others just gave some methods that you can do in link building and if I am a beginner, those wouldn't help since I won't understand those methods. 😀
