Selling

A firm using a sales orientation focuses primarily on the selling/promotion of a particular product, and not determining new consumer desires as such. Consequently, this entails simply selling an already existing product, and using promotion techniques to attain the highest sales possible.

Such an orientation may suit scenarios in which a firm holds dead stock, or otherwise sells a product that is in high demand, with little likelihood of changes in consumer tastes diminishing demand.

Re: Selling

Hi

Selling is offering to exchange something of value for something else. The something of value being offered may be tangible or intangible. The something else, usually money, is most often seen by the seller as being of equal or greater value than that being offered for sale. Another person or organization expressing an interest in acquiring the offered thing of value is referred to as a potential buyer, prospective customer or prospect. Buying and selling are understood to be two sides of the same "coin" or transaction. Both seller and buyer engage is in a process of negotiation to consummate the exchange of values. The exchange, or selling, process has implied rules and identifiable stages.

Thanks

It is implied that the selling process will proceed fairly and ethically so that the parties end up nearly equally rewarded. The stages of selling, and buying, involve getting acquainted, assessing each party’s need for the other’s item of value, and determining if the values to be exchanged are equivalent or nearly so, or, in buyer's terms, "worth the price.”

Re: Selling

This definition of selling encapsulates the heart of the matter, because selling is first and foremost a transaction between the seller and the prospective buyer or buyers.

If you're interested in improving your selling skills, you'll find that there are supposedly many kinds of selling that you should use or should avoid, such as high-pressure selling, persuasive selling, no-pressure selling, targeted selling, etc., but all of them amount to the same thing in the end; selling is the art of persuading the consumer that buying the product or service will benefit him or her.

Whatever product or service you're selling, then, you need to focus your selling efforts on communicating the benefits of your product or service to the consumer. The benefits may be tangible or intangible, but unless the individual consumer is convinced that he or she will personally experience the benefits, your product or service won't sell.

Re: Selling

The sale of a variety of ways.
Simply promoting a product that they think it's good enough to compete with rivals anymore.
It would be nice if we add the psychology of selling.
I've read in a book about this very interesting. ^__^

Re: Selling

Instead of focusing on SELLING and all it's many different facets. Let us focus on it's counterpart, the infinitely more important "BUYING".
Anybody can sell, but if you can get somebody to buy then that's the key. Instead of focusing on "How do I sell?" why not "why do people buy?"
If people like you, and they believe in you, and they trust you, and they have confidence in you.... then they MAY buy from you.
Again, I said this before, "creating the need" for your prospective buyer is the most important thing.

Re: Selling

I do think that selling needs to be only just one part of the puzzle, and that it isn't alway's that good to be to focussed on blindly chasing sales results
Because when you focus is on giving good advice, you might even end up also selling other products, because of the positive 'Word of Mous' you generated and possibly even attracting other customers that way.
