I am seeing more and more blogs getting high PR and wonder if it is more valuable spending your time writing a blog or putting together a newsletter. Any thoughts?
Re: Blogging or Article Writing
I think that it is a better use of your time writing articles because not only will you be able to post them on your own site you will also be able to post them in article directories thus expanding your audience.
Re: Blogging or Article Writing
We found that blogging drove more business to our website and increased our page ranking. The drawback is that we have to be writing more frequently but it seems to be paying off.
Re: Blogging or Article Writing
I would try to do both if you are writing a blog use the topic to go into more detail for an article then you have the best of both worlds! Of course this is more work but if you are already sitting down and writing on a topic it makes sense to cover more points and including it in a newsletter.
Re: Blogging or Article Writing
Here is an article on blogging that describes the difference between blog writing and article writing which I thought you may find interesting:
Blogging vs. Writing : D. Keith Robinson's Asterisk
He mentions that they are different and that blogging is much more forgiving.
Re: Blogging or Article Writing
Great article Tella I agree with most it. Writing articles is different than blogs and you really do not find that out until you try to write both.
Re: Blogging or Article Writing
Here's an idea. I'm still working on getting my schedule formalized for myself. But you can write articles and than use your blog to write short follow-up posts about the article. You won't need to write as many words that were in your article, and you can give out more information to increase your expert status.
The benefit of writing articles is also that nice resource box at the end of the article. You can get it to link back to your site which will bring you additional hits, and you can promote anything you want in that box (except affiliate links)...you could promote your blog. For example "For more information on this subject, visit our blog at XXXX.com"
