LSI is defined as technology to overcome the problem of synonymy and polysemy. It helps to correlate semantically related terms that are latent in a collection of text. However the trouble with a simple text matching technique is that they are inherently inappropriate. With this user has many ways to express a given term using different words and also because most words have multiple meanings. LSI Technology helps to identify the similar (relevant) pages according to user’s query and reduce the probability of multiple meaning of user’s query.
