Link building consists of inbound link building and internal link building. In my opinion, both are really important from the prospects of SEO. It is not an either or situation. You want both and they are obtained in different ways.

Re: What is difference between Inbound link and Internal link?

Both internal and inbound links are important parts of SEO. However, they aren’t the same and it’s important to understand the difference between them. Internal links are located within your website and link from one page on your site to another on your site. For example, you might have a link to a “contact us” page on your homepage. That is considered an internal link. An inbound link, or external link, is a link located on another website that points to your web page. An example of an inbound link is an industry specific directory website that has a link to your company page.

Internal and inbound links each serve different important purposes. If a relevant, high quality and well respected website is linking to your website, you are respected by association. The search engines assume that your website is legitimate and applicable to the content. This is why it’s important to engage in link building activities such as article writing, press release distribution, blog writing and commenting, and social networking. It’s not easy to get these links and it often takes time and effort. It’s also important to note that the links shouldn’t all be coming from one source or built up too quickly. The search engines can easily consider a website build with those strategies to be spam and won’t rank them well.

Internal linking structure is just as important. Internal links should be set up in a way that makes it easy for a user to navigate your site. Remember, the goal of a website is to get conversions. Set up your pages and your internal links with that in mind. While inbound links may carry more weight overall with the search engines, internal links are also judged and can contribute to ranking.

It’s best to think long term when it comes to both internal and inbound link building. The links should grow with time and be diverse, a good combination of quality inbound and relevant internal. By implementing this strategy, you should see an improvement in your search engine ranking.
