Here are five ways you can help save money and provide the best available healthcare options to your employees.
1. Talk to your employees.
2. Look for a plan that's specialized for small business.
3. Spread the premiums around.
4. Make sure the plan you choose is flexible

Re: Saving Money on Company Health Insurance

If you’re a small business owner, you know how important it is to stay competitive, keep your costs low, and your profit margins healthy. Healthcare costs have been rising steadily for years… so it’s more important than ever to find effective ways to save on your group healthcare costs.

If you want to attract and keep the best and brightest employees, you need to offer the best health plan you possibly can. But you also need to get the most value out of your healthcare dollars.

Re: Saving Money on Company Health Insurance

One thing we see is the overuse of the prescription drug coverage. This severely affects rates on renewal when many employees use it. While it is very important to have the coverage, it should only be used sparingly. Many grocery store pharmacies (ie... Kroger, Walmart, etc...) now offer generic alternatives to many drugs at prices under $10. In these cases, the benefit for using your Insurance's coverage is negligible and is a contributing factor for increased rates.

Re: Saving Money on Company Health Insurance

I think with insurance policies you always need to check that you are comparing apples with apples. In a lot of cases you may think that you are getting a better deal however there may be some vital component that is missing. I think it ias always good to put together a comparison table or excel sheet to compare all of the various components and their costs and to make an assessment of how vital/important they are to you.

In these difficult times businesses should be reviewing all of their costs and making sure that they are not over paying.
