The more traffic you get the more profitable your become.There many techniques you can use to drive traffic to your blog.
1) Submitting feeds
Submit your feeds to the top is fed to the site can be indexed for faster search engine (Red RSS, Technorati, 2RSS, NewsMob etc.)
2) Blog Commenting
Go to the blog of other people who are related to your niche market / product to eliminate the value of your comment.Add or post helpful tips, ideas and suggestions so that more people will read it.This will bring traffic to your site cause it allows you to put your link in the comment column.
3) Social media websites
Social networking is the thing at the moment. Use this site to generate traffic to your blog (Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Bebo, etc).
4) Post comment in the Forum
Choose the forum that have large numbers of readers and you will be able to generate tons of backlinks to your blog. You can put your blog URL in a link to the firm that will give your only backlink.Select dofollow forums for your effort will not be in vain.

backlinks- outbound link most important to promote the blog there is different ways to the blog like social bookmarking submission, blog commenting, forum posting, submission on blog directory.
rss feed - Really Simple Syndication important to promote the blog.

Do following to promote your blog :
1) Make effective content
2) Use social network sites
3) Use google sitemap
4) Convert some of your existing articles into podcasts
5) Submit your site to the main web directories
6) Participate regularly in conversations on other blogs
