Many small business owners focus all their marketing effort on advertising and promotions. However, marketing is much more than just advertising and many times costs very little to do. Community involvement establishes long-lasting relationship with your customers that will keep your business on top of their mind for a long time. A typical advertising, in contrast, only has a single transaction relationship where the customer will think of your business as a result of advertising flyer or coupon for a short time.
There are several avenues you can explore to get involved with the local community.

This is very true about increasing sales with community involvement. One thing most businesses fail to do is establish themselves with a website, and strive to find creative ways to promote themselves online. Most folk use the traditional way of offline marketing, such as word of mouth, flyers on cars, print ads in newspapers, and even television commercial. They are all good. But, the internet provides a way for anyone to do it for free, as one does not have to resort to paid online advertising.

Community involvement definitely goes a long way, being a member of associations, chambers of commerce, sponsoring local teams is a great way to get your brand recognized and build business.

Marketing is not all about advertisement,sales promotion and PR.I think It is the whole channel of Identifying the consumer demand and than delivering the same effectively but don't forget to add the term profitably in it.Marketing has now become a core department of each company because of the ever growing competition.
