Are you talking about internal blog or a domain base blog.

Other wise:

Blog should have Good look, Content, and more SEO friendly so that user and search engine loves it.

Put some social share bottons in every post, so that people can easily share your content on facebook, google+, twitter etc that will increase your readers and now you can get more benefits from your contents

if are asking to blog creation then go with google blog spot and create free blog .

Invite other guest authors within your field to post on your blog, develop communities within Linkedin Groups if applicable, and try to offer something unique. It's very difficult to develop credibility if you approach your blog as another "me-too" source of information.
