Its depend on the websites which you are used.
Generally we can use around 150 characters in Mata Description.

I suggest 130 to 150 characters is enough for meta description...

For google ideal 150 to 155 character and bing and yahoo for meta description 160 character..

Length of meta description depends upon once policies but Google policy said that it should not more than 160 characters.
