Google crawls sites daily. If it sees a new site then it usually adds it to it's index. The crawling program is called Google-bot. Sitemaps aid in the process of crawling.

Google deploys spiders to search the web. These spiders check for meta tags, and then checks if it's consistent with your content. Upon doing the research, the spider will report its findings to the robot. The robot will then decide how to index your site based from their findings.

Nowadays google panda is updated and algorithm changed.Google panda crawl page content most because duplicating page content will not taking in account from google.
