Re: How do you send large files?
Hi Triton,
Got your post when I was doing a research on Google and it seems that you are having a problem in sending large files like pictures or videos or some other entertainment stuff. I do agree that most of the ISP (Google or Yahoo) don't give a service to send large files over the net and yes I was facing the same problem earlier. You can use FTP for that but using that think is really a pain in the neck. Now, If I want to send big files I use sendtoperson.com for that as the files sent using this service are sent securely to the recipient without sharing over the internet. They are giving free account for sending big files up to 2 gigs and you can create multiple accounts on the website. As soon as the file is delivered, you'll be getting a mail of the delivery to your mail-id.

yeah I ran across mediafire.com too, it is pretty decent.
Re: How do you send large files?
Email is the easiest and most straight-forward. You may also want to consider a document sharing platform such as Sharepoint or Online File Folders. We can provide all three.
Re: How do you send large files?
thanx for all tools. very helpful share. tthanx.
Re: How do you send large files?
These three differ in their way of functioning in the following ways:
1. P2P File Transfer Tools: A direct connection is established between two computers and no server is involved during the file transfer. The P2P protocol poses no restriction on the size of the file you want to send. The key thing here is that both the sender and the receiver have to be online at the same time. All P2P services are free to use.
2. Storage Services: In this case, the file to be transferred is uploaded to an online storage space and then a link is provided to you for distributing it to your counterpart(s) who need to download that file. Such online storage spaces may include some limitations as: limited storage space, maximum file size, or expiry time to collect the file. Online storage spaces can be both free or paid.
3. E-mail Clients: With these type of tools the large file to be transferred is sent to your counterpart using a special e-mail client that is capable of bypassing the default email attachment file size limitation imposed by standard e-mail providers like Google or Yahoo. An expiry time is generally set for the receiver to pick up the file, but no limitation is set on the maximum file size you can transfer. Since by using an email client a web server is involved in the process, the overall online storage space you have available to share large files is generally limited.

There are online file sharing services like: box.net or dropbox.com
