What do you have more success with advertising using specific keywords or site targeted on google?

We have tried both and we have had much more success with adwords, the sites usually are too general and we get a lot of clicks but not that many sales.

We find that site ads are too expensive for what we offer. We try to find deep keywords it is a lot less expensive and we are more successful with them

I agree I would stick to keyword searches rather than general sites.
