With researches pouring in on increased user involvement with images, Google wants a share of it. They’ve added the +1 button for images. Searching for an image in Google and hovering your cursor on a result now opens up an information pop-up. On that is the +1 button. Clicking on it shall give it a new label, saying “You” in a black band. If your G+ friends +1 one of your pics, their names show up under the photo.

For added info:

The first study was from digital marketing agency Web Liquid, which analyzed 16 brands and more than 1,500 brand posts from March through May and found that Facebook posts that included:

photos drew an engagement rate of .37 percent, compared with
.31 percent for videos;
.27 percent for text only, and
.15 percent for links.

And the second study came from marketing software provider Momentus Media, which examined posts from the top 20,000 Facebook pages and came up with the following engagement levels:

.21 percent for photos;
.11 percent for videos, and
.07 percent for links.

Re: Google adds +1 button for Images

This is where it would be really good if you have the title and alt property in your images. I really enjoy their drag and drop image search (you drag an image and it will search relevant images) but I hope that they do something about the privacy issues with pictures. I mean if a maniac wants someone, to know her the maniac would just use images.google to search for her info.
