Whatever kind of technique you use for bringing in traffic to your website, whether it is social media, social networks, PPC etc. If you are getting a higher bounce rate because of it, then you probably are targeting the wrong market. If you are getting the wrong people into your site, chances of a sale is lower and chances of them leaving immediately upon "NOT" seeing what they want is higher.

Generally speaking it shouldn’t increase your bounce rate. However if you are doing a lot of spamming it might. Can you elaborate some more on how you are marketing via social media? We might be able to help you a bit more that way.
