While being two different things, SEO and SMO refer to two branches of the same online marketing process. SEO and SMO are different kind of online marketing strategies. SEO (search engine optimization) is a way/method to get visitors from search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc. SMO (social media optimization) is a way/method to get visitors from social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Google plus, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Digg, etc.

SEO is nothing the process of gaining traffic from free, natural or organic listing in search engine for set of keywords.

SMO is creating accounts in Social networking sites like Facebook, twitter, digg etc. to build community and then optimizing the content so that user can find your products or services through Social Medias.

SEO means Search Engine Optimization.it provides quality backlinks and website visibility.
SMO means Social Media Optimization .it is mainly used for generating traffic on website.

I have little idea about SEO and that is search engine optimization. But i have not more idea about SMO and that's way i try to understand this and i hope i will more knowledge about this.
