If you have an awesome website and people just wants to have a link for it or to just share it with their friends through their blogs or websites, the link they create going to your site is the backlink. when you are creating it through the tips that the top posters have suggested, you should keep in mind that Google nowadays measure the number of natural to not so natural links. so be careful on how you get those links.
