These days a computer has to be the most valuable in the majority of offices. Without it I couldn't do my job. Period.

Although whiteboards (I use one) and calendars etc are useful for planning and keeping track of what you're doing and what needs doing, I need the computer to actually do the work itself.

Me a calendar is a must!!

Whether its desk or table calendar.. but since we already at computer age..

Outlook and Yahoo calendars are big help, just need to setup every appointments, meeting & tasks details and how you want to be reminded and everything will follow smoothly. No deadlines, meetings are missed.

For me a computer or a laptop is a must in the office. First of all, it's mobile unlike the whiteboard. Secondly, i can have various calendars on it. Thirdly, I can do many useful and useless things with it.

Whiteboards are good for scribbling ideas. But for crossing out tasks, I suggest the action machine, it's great software tool to save you time, and organise your time more effectively. Comes with a timer as well, so you don't get distracted and focus on your goal.

I find that I am too easily distracted, and not focus. I've basically wasted years and years of my time, simply because I am not focused in whatever I do. Everytime I do something my mind will wander off in it's own train of thoughts, getting into subconscious day dreaming. lol.. someone needs to wake me up, then I'm aware of what I'm doing.. but soon go to dream again.

Haha.. I'm sure a minority of you people here are like me too.. how much do you hate it.. I've basically wasted years.. of my time on these constant daydreaming.

I use two whiteboards.

One for my Daily To Do list and the other for my brainstorming.

Would love to paint the walls with whiteboard paint but that would allow too much rubbish to come out of my brain and onto the wall.

The most valuable tool in the office is definitely a computer. You can do anything with it, though it may depend on the type of work you do. A whiteboard and various planning tools are certainly helpful, but without a computer many of us would not be able to do our work. I've actually tried that whiteboard paint but it turns out that you need to have really straight walls with no grooves in them. Otherwise the marker won't erase.

My most valuable tool after a hard lessons learned is a back up drive after I lost all my email files for the last 12 months and all my client corrospondance. Luckily I had backed up my client files from my laptop which had all the attachments but not the emails themselves.

More of a tech section thing but back up all the time and have multiple storage solutions. Even the geeks2u mob could not recover the data drom the drive, it was fried in a freak sequence of events.
