Questions for Entrepreneurs and Business Owners!

(@Anonymous)
New Member

I have a few questions for those that have started their own business, or are even in the process! Thanks so much for your input! It would be great to get a good discussion going!

At any time during your planning or start up process did you utilize outside services to help start your business? If yes, did you pay for these services?

Who did you receive the outside help from and how did you find them?

How did this assistance effect your start up process? Could you have started without utilizing outside help?

Thank you all so much! This will be so helpful to me!

Re: Questions for Entrepreneurs and Business Owners!

Starting ones business especially if it's your first can be extremely overwhelming in general, and doing it by yourself makes it even more so. Try to enlist help from people that are close to you, and want to see your business grow. Speak to professionals, you can contact them via social media channels, many people would love to add some helpful tips for your new venture. DO whatever you can on your own, but if it gets too much get others to help you out as you don't want to burn out from so much work and effort. If you do need help its best to try and outsource different projects as this will be much cheaper in the long run. Eventually when things get rolling and you're bringing in an income you can get full time help.

Re: Questions for Entrepreneurs and Business Owners!

Well having set up several business I can tell you I used outside services a lot. I always used an attorney to set up my corporation legally. From that point on I have used outsourcing companies for administrative areas, marketing activities and technology area such as building my website etc. One rule of thumb I use is if I can pay someone else $50 or less an hour to do something for me then I have no business doing this task. Your dollar amount may be different but I promise you we all spend time doing activities because we can or in the hopes of saving money. In the long run it costs you money. Do what you do best and pass off everything else to others who can do it better than you for less time than you take.

Re: Questions for Entrepreneurs and Business Owners!

When starting your own business it's imperative to use the advice and/or services of professionals for areas that you do not fully comprehend. Everything I can do for myself, I do itf with a few exceptions.

If I don't understand, feel the task is tedious, or feel my time can be spent better else where - I utilize others services. However, before I pay for services, i check with colleagues, friends, and family to seek there input especially if they have some experience in the area.

Re: Questions for Entrepreneurs and Business Owners!

I think the only professional help that I had back them (paid ones) are those that I needed for the construction of the building. we had this course back in college for feasibility studies and businesses and it sort of helped me with the business that I have. if you want a business, of course it is worth it to ask professionals about it if you don't have friends who can give it to you.
