Can we do something that prevents someone from using a bot to post

I use Google Desktop (one of the few good features with Vista), anywho it auto retrieves new "news" from websites I visit regularly (which this one is amidst). Google Desktop has been coming back with some frightfully distracting, and to me disturbing posts off of this bulletin board. I am sure that few if any are interested in a list of **** sites being posted since if you are then you are not interested in being productive and I would hope that some of us are interested in being more productive not less.

Re: Can we do something that prevents someone from using a bot to post

Thanks for your note. We have put a lot of time and effort over the last few months promoting the site and as a result we have more activity and more members joining every day than we ever have. Thats the good news. The bad news is that because of the large volume of traffic we get each day the site also attracts spammers. I try to monitor the site throughout the day for inappropriate posts and have built in censorship features that prevent people from using vulgar language but unfortunately there is not automated way of preventing the posts without impacting everyone. It is something that we are constantly monitoring and evaluating our alternatives. Once again I apologize.

Hi Scott

How many moderators do you have? If you get some staff, it'll lighten the load. Spread across the globe, they can cover the board 24/7 and eliminate the spammers. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Eagle,

Thanks for your note and your ongoing participation in the forum. I was planning on asking a few of the more active members if they wanted to be a moderator once we went into phase 2 of our marketing plan where we hope to double our traffic - but that is still a few months away. Given your participation in the forum, please let me know if you are interested we would welcome your involvement. Thanks.

Hi Scott

Due to workload, I couldn't commit to a 'full-time' moderators' position but I'd be more than happy to delete/move spam as I pass through every now and again.

Thanks Eagle perhaps in the future. I will also be looking for some feedback on some promotions and other things I am considering that I would like to get a small focus group together. I will let you know, and if you have the time, I would welcome your feedback.

I am glad

I am glad to see that this thread sparked some meaningful interchange between some of the more active minds on this board.

Peace,
Michael
