Re: What plans are necesary to safe business from before recession

Hello
Afraid the recession is here to stay a bit longer? If so, you're not alone. What follows are several strategies that companies use to maintain and even increase-their sales, while their competitors struggle to stay afloat. Apply these techniques to your own marketing and selling efforts during a recession, and you will survive--*even prosper while others struggle to get by.

1. Reactivate dormant accounts. Contact a past client, one you are not actively working for now *and get them to do business with you again. Call them, say hello, and see what's going on. Don't make this a hard sell call. You don't have to ask for work directly, but when you end the conversation, you might say some*thing like, "Well, it's been good talking with you. Keep in touch, and if there's anything I can ever help you with, don't hesitate to give me a call." This lets them know you are interested in working with them, without putting the pressure on them to give you an order right then and there.

2. Reactivate old leads. A study by Thomas Publishing Company reveals that most salespeople, regardless of the industry, give up too early; 80 percent of sales to busi*nesses are made on the fifth sales call, but only 10 percent of salespeople call beyond three times! The best way to reactivate these old sales leads is to call them. Ask whether they got your material, whether they have an immediate or future need, and what the status of that need is.

3. Help existing clients create new assignments for you.Usually, my clients come to me with assignments. If they don't, and I want to generate addi*tional revenue, I will call them. I suggest ideas they can use then, if they go ahead with the idea, they will ask me to implement it. Toss out a few quick ideas, things which may be obvious to you, but ones you didn't spend a lot of time coming up with, but which would be valuable to your client.

Re: What plans are necesary to safe business from before recession

The funny thing about a recession is that we're already well into one (or in and out of one) before we know we are in it. But all this talk about a recession is making small business owners nervous. The first thing many small business owners will do in reaction to a slow down in business is to look at where they can cut to reduce expenses. That normally ends up being payroll, the biggest small business expense. But you want to use caution before you take any radical action.

Re: What plans are necesary to safe business from before recession

Start the Business Plan with a Mission Statement and Strategy

§ Define your business

§ Identify your business goals; objectives

The Mission Statement is what you want your business to be now and in the future. Strategy is your plan to make it real. Write a brief summary statement that makes your business unique and why you will succeed.

Next it’s on to Marketing and Sales which are a bit harder, but a good business plan guide works wonders here. For me I purchased “The Perfect Business Plan Made Simple. The public library is also a place to visit if money is a problem.

Once your online business is established, you think about how to draw people to visit your website or blog. If you have no customers, there will be no ka-chang. You need to focus on a target market. The market can be business executives, mothers, older **s and even *s.

Make your competitor your friend, in the marketing arena. Your product or service should be different to give you a nice razor edge. Helpful is to take a close look at their site for some clues to sharpen your marketing strategy, in tweaking your plan.

Educate yourself in the different ways to advertise your business. Be knowledgeable to the latest methods that will showcase your business before the eyes of your website traffic. Learn the importance about banner ads and articles for marketing. These tools can be used to advertise and generate sales throughout the world.

Re: What plans are necesary to safe business from before recession

Hello friends

NEW YORK, April 15, 2009 -- More than three quarters of entrepreneurs believe managing through the recession has made them better business owners, according to the American Express OPEN® Small Business Monitor, a semi-annual survey of business owners. Four in ten business owners have an optimistic outlook on near-term business prospects, on par with one year ago when the macroeconomic climate was significantly different. Nearly four in ten entrepreneurs feel the current economic environment creates opportunities for their business.
While optimism has stabilized, business owners are still managing their firms with caution. Capital investment plans are at their lowest level in the eight-year history of the Monitor, hiring plans are down significantly and many entrepreneurs are adjusting their own retirement plans. Forty-two percent of business owners plan to make investments as a way to grow their business over the next six months, down from 53% last spring. Just over one-quarter of entrepreneurs have plans to hire this spring (28%), which is among the lowest Monitor readings in its history.

Thanks to all friends

Re: What plans are necesary to safe business from before recession

Hello Friends.........

1.Make the most of low costs.

The recession means business start-up costs are lower than in boom times. Lester started his first business during a recession and says it meant he could afford employees who would otherwise have wanted too much money, or found other jobs. It also meant he could rent office space for substantially less money and that his advertising budget went much further.

2. Be efficient.

3. Take strength from adversity.

Thanks

Re: What plans are necesary to safe business from before recession

hello.
1. If you are facing risk at being laid off by your current company. A few days ago, a friend of mine told me her company laid off several employees, to “save the company and the rest of employees”. I asked her if she was considering of looking for some other opportunities, she said NO, because she felt blessed. What if the company’s business gets worse if the economy continues to struggle? What if they need to cut more jobs to “save the company”? If your company already has laid off people, you need to think more about future, think about what kind of positions are being cut off and analyze for your own situation.

2.Is your performance at the bottom of the team? If your department is at the edge of the business? If yes, try your best to improve performance, get more training, and if possible, try to transfer to core business units or start to look for a new opportunity.

3. When a new opportunity comes, don’t simply say yes or no. Get to know more about it, not only regular information about the job such as the scope and responsibilities, but also some facts such as if it is a new position or a replacement position, why to hire for the position, if the company is cutting off jobs and what types of jobs they are, if the company’s business is badly influenced by the recession. Usually a new headcount could be more risky to be cut off than a replacement headcount. Sometimes, a company cuts some positions in one business group while at the same time hiring more for another business group. Some business is not influenced as badly as others. For example, one of my friends is working for a reseller of tires. Due to the recession, more people choose to change tires instead of buying a new car. So their business is not that bad at all.

4. If a company has an effective HR management system. Usually companies with a good HR management system that includes an effective HR planning system has a lower risk to cut jobs dramatically. Working at this type of company will be more stable than those without good HR planning system, which leads to irresponsibly hiring and lay off.

Re: What plans are necesary to safe business from before recession

A recession is the optimal time to reinvent competitive advantage because the pressure of a feeble economy will separate the strong businesses from the weak ones, with the weak falling out of the g**e entirely. Your business will be strong if you have a plan of action based upon a little industry research, an analysis of what you have and what you want, and continuous monitoring of the results of your plan. This kind of innovation is not only a necessity right now, but it is an opportunity to improve the quality and efficiency in the way you do business

Re: What plans are necesary to safe business from before recession

Hello
How would you feel, if you found a fresh new idea that could be used to create an income opportunity online. Wouldn’t you be ecstatic and beaming with joy? Wait! Not so fast, first you need to relax using your mastermind focus. There is no time to waste on flip-plop when mapping out your business plan for success.

Many people assume a Business Plan is not necessary but I say, “That’s rubbish.” Every home has a builder to see the end results. Similarly, you too need a blue print or diagram plan for the lifeline of your business. This primary step can lead to your business success or failure. Whether your business ideas are new or a makeover of an existing one, a Business Plan is required.
