What all counts for taxes with mileage on my car?

I know to track the mileage I put on my car for all business uses but I want to know what ALL counts towards this.
For example:
Does going home from a client count? Does driving around putting up signs and handing out cards to businesses count?
What if I am farther from my client than my business address (and usual driving distance) and need to go to that client, does that much larger distance still count?
Does driving to a store to buy something for the business count?
