I agree it is always a good time to start a business if you are well prepared. Unfortunately, I was forced into self-employment when my corporate job was downsized. Thank goodness I had some savings and financial cushion, otherwise, I don't know what I would have done.

I recently came across a great free article as a business blueprint in today's web world. I downloaded it as I want to grow outside my home and was totally impressed with the content. It depends what business you are going to start, If you are going to start any web business, It is a good time and you can start immediately, but in case of any IT or other business, It is not a good time because of the global recession.

I'm sure you've found that locally tyhere are a lot of big name businesses going up (atleast in my area). This is not because its a good time to start a business, its because land is CHEAP. If your driven, have a good solid plan, and dont let the negatives get to you; theres plenty of room for a new small business :o.

I feel like if you are starting a new setup to work from home I feel you need good guidance and proper advice from some experts. So its better you take all the tips, read some business guides etc.

As long as you're ready and you have the resources available to operate a business, then any time is a good time.

Start-up companies at this time should develop a business model that goes hand-in-hand with the financial crisis. Since most businesses are looking for ways to cut down costs, you can opt to provide outsource solutions on the market niche you are knowledgeable at. 😉

The best of minds would take advantage of the fact that companies are laying off people. In that case, they can capitalize on the vacuum left by the movement. It's not necessarily the whole operations but a bit of its specialized services.

It's always a good time to start a business if you think it will be successful, the only problem right now is that people aren't spending money and banks aren't lending. If you think your business will make money, don't wait. You may have trouble getting a loan at your age or finding customers who are willing to spend money, but if you think it can work go for it.

Depends what kind of business. I have put my business plans on hold until the economy turns around because I know my potential customer base likely can't afford luxuries right now. You mentioned the food industry. I assume you mean a restaurant? I think it would be a very bad time to start a restaurant right now. Restaurants are considered to be very high risk business ventures, so securing capital for it would be difficult. Also, people are eating out less and less and when the economy tanks, restaurants are usually the first businesses to suffer. When people realise they need to save money, one of the first things they stop doing is going to restaurants. You would probably be better to wait it out.
