I was just working a client website recently and something came to my attention -WordPress security. Although this something that business owners often ignore but when they suffer a breach that is when they remember how important it is. What are some of the ways you are using to improve your website security against hackers?

Yes, this is crucial to keep your data and customers' safe.

Change log in url, limit log in attempts, install SSL,use strong passwords and use a good hosting company.

The simplest way of securing your Wordpress website apart from what @meshark noted is the update process.

Update your Wordpress CMS as soon as updates are rolled out. This will ensure that no malicious intentions can break open your website.

Other recommendations to improve security include; set up automatic log off of idle users, add security questions to log in screens, disable XML-RPC, which is normally enabled by default in WordPress 3.5, disable directory indexing and browsing, add 2 factor authentification and scan your wordpress site for any malicious malware or vunerabilities
