Why most people fail in business?

Starting your own business can yield amazing rewards but at the same time its a pretty big risk. I was recently asked in the Q&A why people fail at starting their own businesses. I came up with several reasons and wanted to expand more on this.

Fear – Its b***s out to quit your day job and start your own company. There are no guarantees. It took me 4 years to take the plunge and a huge push from my wife to do it and I never quit my day jobs… I got canned.

Excuses – This is the #1 reason people do not ever get started. People will always think of reasons not to be successful.

Stress – Owning your own business is stressful. Especially when you grow and have employees. I am very hands on and always want to do all the work myself… but its just not possible. Plus I have employees that are just better at many things then I am and I need to let them do the job. Then you have the financials which add a **** ton of stress.

Comfort – Lets be honest. Most 9-5 jobs are pretty comfy. You get up at 8am grab your coffee in to work by 8:30 to gossip for a bit. Grab your TPS reports and highlighter and start to go through them. You finish the first batch about 11:30 time to goto lunch with the gang. After a good social lunch you head back to the office to grab the rest of your TPS reports until 4:45 when you start to shut it down and head out. Home by 5:30. Pretty nice. When you own your own company your on 24/7 or atleast thats how it is with me. Server issues at 3am.. Im up and working on it or calling dillsmack if I cant figure it out quick. I miss the comfort of just having a easy 9-5 gig. But not that much =P

The Dip – Everyone loves the initial dreams of owning your own business but soon after the fun thoughts leave the real work begins. Powering through that dip is a mother. We go through it every time we start a new website. Being able to power through the dip until you reach a tipping point is probably the biggest reasons companies fail.

Motivation – Some people are just motivated more then others. When I first started my own company my main motivation for kicking a*s was that I was terrified to go back to a corporate 9-5 job. That was 5 years ago. Now my motivation is more to keep kicking a*s so my employees/partners never have to work for a corporate 9-5 job ever again.

Re: Why most people fail in business?

I don't like to look at things as failing,

You alway's create results, just like Edison created hundreds of way's how to NOT make a Lamp.
For example it's my experience that when I mess up something it usually is something educational that I could for example
share with people in a Forum 🙂

I do think that a pretty 'Fail-safe' way to set yourself up to win
could be doing Affiliate Marketing

'You can set it up as just a little extra income...,'

It is easy to setup and you can easily do it while working in a Job.
So you don't have to fear about taking any plunges, or have to create a lot of stress about having your own Business either
because with Affiliate Marketing you can set it up just as you like it,

You don't have to work IN your Business you can easily
work ON your Business at a pace you like. Letting all the stressful things like customer care and other things like that
do by the company you pre-sell products from. You only have to take care of bringing people to their webshop by writing
about those products, and receive commisions when they make a sale, that's basically it.

It may take some time to make some real money, on the other hand when you have
multiple streams of income that way it may accumulate to an interesting stream eventually.

All the Best,
To your Happy - Home Business - Inspiration,
HP

Re: Why most people fail in business?

Comfort is a big part of it. Most people with families need to pull in 20% more in straight profit to cover medical insurance and such. Plus if you factor in the uncertainty of it all, most would have to make double to cover up for the possibility of their business stopping.

Re: Why most people fail in business?

Underdeveloped Skills

Ok, let's say you DO have a constant supply of fresh quality prospects (leads) to talk to everyday, will that solve your problem? No, because most marketers out there are using the WRONG approach with people and not getting the results they could. Contrary to popular opinion, uplines, etc., you do not spill information on people and then try to close them on your opp or product. You must gain the knowledge and skills necessar to you position yourself so others seek you out and you don't go 'prospect' people. That starts with being taught what actually produces results in prospecting and recruiting, rather than 'trying' what the other upline guy did and hoping it will work for you. You DO need skills in this business. You also need to know where to get those skills and how to apply them, so every month is a good month for you.

Re: Why most people fail in business?

I'm sure most of you know, exactly the words I'm referring to, what is it? Residual income. That's it in a nutshell, if you succeed to gain the prosperity you're looking for within your Internet online marketing business. You need to create residual income with that being said, your business knows no bounds. Simply put, there is no limit to where you want your business goals to be obtained.

One of the biggest reasons that I've seen people fail at Internet businesses. Is that they think that all they need to do is throw up a fabulous website that sparkles and shines,an the financial income will just start flowing straight to their bank accounts. Let's face it my friends, it's not that easy. If it was, everyone would be doing it. Right! It doesn't take a brilliant mind to know, that would be thinking with a lottery mentality.

Like the old saying goes "try your luck, step right up and press your luck." Sure'you can give it a try. Who knows, you might be one of the lucky ones, but chances are totally slim to none and you will surely end up right back to square one.

Another major factor that Intel's with online business failures is ignorance. People who started marketing business without a clue of either whether they really want to sell/promote people know what companies that want to be a some good to them and turn out to be a profitable opportunity.

Nor do they know the dangers and what to look out for, and what roadblocks they face ahead. Not to mention some of these companies have steep learning curves, it's not as easy to learn how to sell the product to their prospects with the right education on the product that their marketing.

Re: Why most people fail in business?

Hi

LACK OF DISCIPLINE AND CONSISTENCY

This is a big one. Most people get the idea that they can make
millions by simply signing up. The money will just roll in…the
streets are lined with gold and all you have to do is bend down
and pick it up. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if this were true? Or
would it? Developing the discipline and consistency necessary
to be successful in any endeavor is part of what makes success
so sweet. There aren’t many accidental success stories. It
takes tremendous discipline to be successful in anything
including a home business. It’s like getting in shape or going
to college. You will not make it through college if you only
study one day in each semester. Similarly, you will not get in
shape with one “power walk” on just one day. Once you know what
is required daily, learn to discipline yourself and be
consistent. Amazingly, consistency and discipline not only
elevate you to higher levels of success, they also make your
work so much easier!

Thanks

Re: Why most people fail in business?

Hi

people fail in the multi level marketing business is lack of patience. I know from experience that people want to start making money fast with any business opportunity they join. The fact is that it takes time to build your MLM business. That is why having enough money is so important to succeed. You will probably loose money your first month after your advertising expenses. Once your business gains momentum, which could happen after a few months, you will be on the right track to MLM profits. Learn how to be patient, and try not to get discouraged. The profit will come if you just stick with one thing and keep doing it till you are satisfied.

Thanks

Re: Why most people fail in business?

Sure there are many people that prospers from Internet marketing. I am one of many. But the fact still remains is that lots of people, who gets involved with Internet business opportunities; they don't even come close to success that others have achieved in their online opportunities.

As a matter of fact, many of them fail outright. Why? Because the keywords day you want to keep in mind is: "earned money." It's all about creating the two infamous words that we marketers love. And it doesn't matter whether if you're doing your business online or traditional style.

I'm sure most of you know, exactly the words I'm referring to, what is it? Residual income. Re: Why most people fail in business?

It's because of thinking.
Everything happens because of thinking. Good thinking or bad thinking.
Thinking, put into action, becomes e-motion. Good emotion and action, combined with thinking, can overcome any failure.
Think good and act good, that is the solution.

Re: Why most people fail in business?

Actually statistics show why most businesses fail is that they over manage.

A new businesses prime objective is to sell as much product and/or services as possible and yet many people spend more time on all the other things mentioned in this thread. Sales should be the prime objective of any new business. Well any business for that matter because without them you don't have a business.

Re: Why most people fail in business?

There are lots of reasons that why most of people gets fail in business, it may be because of insufficient capital, selecting wrong target market, poor research, less qualitative products and services, location, lack of planning, over expansion, tough competition, or any other else. But these are the most common factors which cause the failure of the business.

Many articles has been written on this topics. I have mentioned some of them here:
