Re: markeing vs sales

Marketing is everything you do to reach and persuade prospects. The sales process is everything you need to do to close the sale and obtain a signed agreement or contract. Both are necessities for business success. You can not do without the two processes.

Re: markeing vs sales

As far as I understand the word Marketing comes from 'Market-Getting'

That it is about providing for Market(s), and the (distibution-, promotion- etc. etc.) management
providing for your Market(s)

Re: markeing vs sales

Let's think about this question for a moment. Without marketing you would not have prospects or leads to follow up with, but yet without a good sales technique and strategy your closing rate may depress you.

Marketing is everything that you do to reach and persuade prospects. The sales process is everything that you do to close the sale and get a signed agreement or contract. Both are necessities to the success of a business. You cannot do without either process. By strategically combining both efforts you will experience a successful amount of business growth. However, by the same token if the efforts are unbalanced it candetour your growth.

Re: markeing vs sales

"Marketing is your company. Period. It's how you advertise, it's your website, your store front, the names/titles of your employees, the little outfits you put them in, the name of your company, how you consistently acquire new customers every day, month, or year... It's how you position yourself, your product (both physically and in the mind of your customer), your customer service, the condition of your store, etc."

"Copywriting and/or selling is pretty much all the writing/direct communication used to convince the reader/prospect into purchasing or going through whatever action you desire from them."

"Marketing is every interaction you have with the prospect/customer. Sales Writing, or copywriting/selling, is the content of those interactions."

I found the best way to explain my thoughts was taking it directly from my blog.

I'll add this: marketing can sell. Most good marketing should effectively pre-sell your prospect on doing business with you.

Something to consider. 😉

Re: markeing vs sales

Let me put that in simpler words, the marketing is the process to let your presence known in the market and the results arising due to effecting marketing is called the sales. The sales in other words means the selling of the product or providing the services. Hope that this clears the difference between both the terms in a better way.

Re: markeing vs sales

Marketing and sales co-exist and work perfectly, if they are allowed to continue to come together to achieve results as an independent entity. Marketing is advertising, event planning, community participation, "where " your company name, build credibility, usually the "people pleasing"personality, the main focus and lead generation. And value of sales is the understanding and knowledge has lead to understand the "selling cycle ", a documented sales process (and know how to use it), the great problem of qualifying, the development of a climate of trust with customers, listening for a long time , Sale, or the next step, a large follow-up skills required.

Re: markeing vs sales

the marketing process is broad and includes all of the following:

1. Discovering what product, service or idea customers want.
2. Producing a product with the appropriate features and quality.
3. Pricing the product correctly.
4. Promoting the product; spreading the word about why customers should buy it.
5. Selling and delivering the product into the hands of the customer.

Selling is one activity of the entire marketing process.

Selling is the act of persuading or influencing a customer to buy (actually exchange something of value for) a product or service.

Marketing activities support sales efforts. Actually, they are usually the most significant force in stimulating sales. Oftentimes, marketing activities (like the production of marketing materials and catchy packaging) must occur before a sale can be made; they sometimes follow the sale as well, to pave the way for future sales and referrals.

Re: markeing vs sales

Marketing is associated with advertising, event planning, community participation, receiving the name of your company out there, building credibility, usually the personality of the delight with emphasis on the generation. Sales lead is associated with the knowledge and understanding of the value of a leader.

Re: markeing vs sales

Marketers focus on the concept of the brand. How they can make it better ie. sell more products.
Where salesman focus on directly selling the product.
