One of the best and most inexpensive ways to market your business locally is by word of mouth. Word spreads fast and this can be beneficial for freelancers who are trying to gain new clients and increase their popularity.Another way to get the word out regarding your freelance business in your local area is to take advantage of free local magazines/newspapers available in your vicinity.

Guerilla marketing techniques to generate word of mouth are great. Non-conventional product placement with a story is really effective. This grabs the attention and then provides the story teller with the tools necessary to make the buzz.

Great way to increase exposure is to get a website.

Put that link on all your cars, trucks, company and personal vehicles; business cards, flyers, etc. You will definitely see a turnaround.

Re: best way of offline marketing?

Great point Julius. Word-of-mouth is very important given a satisfied client has incentive to do so. Many people agree with the role great customer service plays here, however we know that people will speak more avidly about bad service than good service.

One important thing to remember is to give your customer the tools they need to promote for you. Give them a good story to tell, especially if you are a family-owned business.

Target your local potential clients (not sure what your business is) meet with them if possible and give them your ptch. Also sending out mailer to potential clients WITH how much money you can save them is a plus too.

Hello to all

Just like online promotion, you should never focus on one singular lead generation method. You need to balance your risk by having multiple sources of business.
Involvement in local business networks, advertising in local papers are great. Some other approaches are running free training courses, sponsorships, environmental advertising, partnerships with local businesses.
Long story short, there a plenty of ways to promote your business offline, some will work better for you than others, but don't limit yourself to one and continue to test the waters with new methods.

Thanks for sharing
Have a nice day

Re: best way of offline marketing?

I think it's good to join a local business network. You meet lots of business people there who may need your services. Or go to seminars on how to run a business. New businesses usually need a website and advise on how to rank better online (if you are in that business). There are usually also quite a few networking events. You find lots of these events in your area at linked In. Another way is to do a fun presentation in your skills area. This idea is also discussed in a good blog post at Sitefling on how to get new clients for SEO which I found very useful: http://sitefling.com/blog/step-by-st...g-seo-clients/

Re: best way of offline marketing?

The bulk of my offline marketing is with business networks. I belong to a couple that are pretty active, with lots of opportunities to meet and network with local businesses. Then when I meet someone and exchange business cards, I go back to my office and see if they are on Facebook and LinkedIn and connect to them there. That way I can get even more value out of my offline networking by having a continual connection with the people I meet.

I do like the two-sided business cards. Placing your website url on the back is a great way to get attention and direct people to your website.

Re: best way of offline marketing?

Yes, I agree. For me, the best way of offline marketing has been through communication with friends and people. I find it better to explain the people through personal communication rather than explaining through mails or affiliate links

Hello

Depending on your business, you might try promotional products. The cost-per-impression can be far less than traditional offline advertising. Think about who you want to target, what useful item will get attention when they need your product or services the most, and factor it in your advertising budget. A good promotional products company can help you find the right item that fits your message and budget, and provide similar case.

This is our business, and we practice what we preach. For example, we recently gave eco-friendly items to regional companies that are have a "green" effort in their marketing. We made appointments and brought branded gifts to marketing managers, human resource managers, communication managers and company owners. This has worked well for us.

Thanks

Re: best way of offline marketing?

hello i think best way of offline marketing are below
All the talk these days seems to focus around ways to promote your Internet business. Most of them center around online methods such as Ezine advertising and banner ads. But there are some excellent, offline methods you can use to promote your business, too.

And they're FREE!

Radio Talk Shows

There is practically an unlimited number of radio stations that bring experts in various fields into their studios. I'm sure you have heard some of these shows on your local radio stations.

The guest expert answers calls from listeners who phone into the radio station. You can be that expert!

During the show, you have ample opportunities to announce your Web address so listeners can visit your site.

You don't pay anything to be a guest. It's a win-win situation.

The radio station needs qualified guests to fill its airtime and you need the exposure. Everyone benefits.

Local Television Segments

Pay particular attention to the content offered on your local television stations. Do you notice shows, or segments of shows, where guests speak about various topics? If so, contact that station and offer to be a guest on their segment.

Chamber of Commerce Guest Speaker

Almost every city in the United States has a Chamber of Commerce. Although I don't have first-hand knowledge of such in other countries, I'll bet most have a similar organization.

Chambers of Commerce look for guest speakers. Most of them host weekly or monthly breakfasts or lunches to allow the business people who are members to network with one another.

During this time, they book guest speakers to offer a presentation to the Chamber members.

You have a captive audience that you can speak to, network with and direct to your Web site.
