Re: why we want to use nofollow on a internal link?

Many times we use nofollow attribute in internal link because when we don’t want to share our link juice to other website and also don’t want to get internal links (backlinks) or link juice from other website at that time we use nofollow link.

If you are a owner of the blog, you have seen that some of fake or spam comment are publishing on your blog posts. They are harmful for you webiste reputation...so if you use nofollow link to external or internal links so that google will not pass the link juice to that website

But having a no follow link for your site is also good in link building right?

Re: why we want to use nofollow on a internal link?

The only reason why I would add the tag "rel=nofollow" to some of the links in my internal pages is if I wouldn't want the search engines to be crawling those pages - although it is also possible through the file robots.txt . A lot has changed with the algorithm of search engines after all of those major updates such as caffeine and panda and through observation, it seems that search engines now considers the quantity of nofollow links to links without that tag.

Re: why we want to use nofollow on a internal link?

Nofollow is an HTML attribute value used to instruct some search engines that a hyperlink should not influence the link target's ranking in the search engine's index. It is intended to reduce the effectiveness of certain types of search engine spam, thereby improving the quality of search engine results and preventing spamdexing from occurring.

I agree with johnywalter that search engines are now considering no-follow links as valuable links.

Re: why we want to use nofollow on a internal link?

Link is like a voting system. Google sees backlinks of a website as votes it obtains from other webssite. We use no-follow attribute in external links because we want to specify that we are not giving any vote to this external links and also we don't want share link juice of our website.
