Re: What is link farm?

At some point, if you look at directory sites, they are kinda like link farms. The difference is that the tons of links in them are categorized and organized. for the two pages, directory or link farm, the benefit SEO wise is very small. that is why nobody is using them anymore.

Re: What is link farm?

I heard that in some other countries you can still get away with link farms, Google doesn’t really police it because search volume is so low.

Re: What is link farm?

Link farms are indeed poison. I am quite fussy about whom I link to. I frequently get requests for reciprocal links and I ignore 99% of them. If the person writing has similar material and a good ranking I consider it. The rest go to the recycle bin.

Re: What is link farm?

A link farm is a website page or set of websites containing a very large list of hyper links to different websites without groupings, categories, or any relationship to the site domain name. Many link farm sites have no actual content of their own or standards for link submission. Link farms are disreputable versions of legitimate sites exchanging links based on related topics to provide visitors with some added content value.

Re: What is link farm?

So I want to know what's the difference between a link farm and a directory.

It seems that a directory is more professional with quality links than link farms. Is that true?

Re: What is link farm?

The process of exchanging reciprocal links with Web sites in order to increase search engine optimization. The idea behind link farming is to increase the number of sites that link to yours because search engines such as Google rank sites according to, among other things, the quality and quantity of sites that link to yours. In theory, the more sites that link to yours, the higher your ranking in the search engine results will be because the more links indicate a higher level of popularity among users of the Internet. However, search engines such as Google consider link farming as a form of spam and have been implementing procedures to banish sites that participate in link farming, so the term link farming has garnered negative connotations across the Internet.
