Google makes changes time to time in their Algo and machines for better performance and it affect Ranking for a few hours or days. Yes it affect ranking in during that update. You don't need to worry about it whereas it not for algo.

The name "Google Dance" is often used to describe the index update of the Google search engine. Google's index update occurs on average once per month. It can be identified by significant movement in search results and especially by Google's cache of all indexed pages reflecting the status of Google's last spidering. But the update does not proceed as a switch from one index to another at one point in time. In fact, it takes several days to complete the index update. During this period, the old and the new index alternate on google. At an early stage, the results from the new index occur sporadically. But later on, they appear more frequently. Google dances.

Google dance is when Google makes a big index update. Yes, it affects your site's ranking on SERP. But today, Google dance isn't really an issue anymore as Google doesn't have to make a major index update . It makes updates weekly now.

Google dance doesn't mean changes in their Algo, or any kind of changes. I think that is an update that google make frequently for their server reason.

Google dance is the keyword dance. so if you have not a sufficient back link for a particular keyword then your keyword will not stay.

Thanks everyone for sharing, Google dance is new word for me. I knew it that google algo's effect our SERP and PR a lot. But this time we are benefitted from Google updation on PR. We got directly 4 PR from 0 . This is excited for us.

Google dance is something usually signals the time when Google servers are updating their algorithm. A few years ago, this change would happen as often as 2 to 3 months (but of course the daily update of their algo still happens, except for that those in 2 or 3 months usually are major ones). Websites will have some changes in ranking as google implements its new way of ranking sites. After this update and you have lost rankings, it means you have to do or make some SEO updates.
