Re: what is Cloud Computing ?

Remember the olden days when we all had to own the software and store the data on our own machines? Cloud computing allows us to work from just about anywhere with an Internet connection and the data is stored in a central, offsite location.

With Cloud computing come potential privacy issues. But also much more mobility and flexibility.

Re: what is Cloud Computing ?

Cloud computing is a general term for anything that involves delivering hosted services over the Internet. These services are broadly divided into three categories: Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). The name cloud computing was inspired by the cloud symbol that's often used to represent the Internet in flowcharts and diagrams.

Re: what is Cloud Computing ?

As per my knowledge Cloud computing overlaps some of the concepts of distributed, grid and utility computing, however it does have its own acceptation if contextually acclimated correctly.

Re: what is Cloud Computing ?

Cloud computing means computing can be used as a service rather than a product.

This has become possible because it's now cost-effective for companies to build huge data centers where computing and software can be provided remotely at massive scale and rented out, like a utility service.

Re: what is Cloud Computing ?

The very simplest definition that I can think of? A service to use as many computers as I need making it look like if it was just one computer.

This is the kind of question that you Google and you find a thousand answers... and most of them right
