What is Drupal?

Drupal is an open-source content management system (CMS). Basically its an environment that allows you to develop powerful websites quickly and with relative ease.

Why use Drupal?

Firstly, it's free. It manages your website content. Easily store and edit all your content and data, display your website pages, easily and instantly edit the appearance of your website using Themes (templates), Color profiles. Drupal lets you easily add features to your website, such as Image galleries, Blogs, Forums, Calendars, Video Streaming, Podcasts, and many other features. Drupal has a large online community, supporting each other and developing drupal add-on modules to provide extra functionality to the system. Get started now with drupal at drupal.org

How Drupal works

All content; such as articles, information, user details, etc, are stored in a database. The database is accessed and managed via a database server. The design and layout of a drupal site is handled by themes. These are template files, styled with graphics and text. Themes allow you to easily change the appearance of your website without modifying any of your content. Drupal uses the PHP programming language. PHP is open-source and therefore free to use.

Re: Website Content Management Software

WordPress is also used as a CMS as well. A Web Designer can use common knowledge rules for SEO when creating the site. I'm creating all my new websites in this manner. SEO is now a must for Web Designers who want their clients web sites to rank. But SEO is also about creating back links to get your site listed in the top spots for the major search engines. There are a bunch of other factors that Search Engines use to determine page rankings.

Re: Website Content Management Software

Even if Blogger hosted application is a simple form of content management system. A fully functional content management system, on the other hand, is a complex system of nature. It may be easier to learn HTML is to install some free "easy to use"content management system. However, such a system is the real beauty is that you can not edit your page.

Re: Website Content Management Software

Hello Friends,

A content management system for a web site enables non-geeky editors, writers or administrators to add, edit, and delete content on the web site without knowing HTML -- the programming language that is used to make web sites. The basic idea is: A template for the web site is created and then some administration tool is used to make words and images appear in that template. Does a free, easy to use, shareware, content management system exist? We found some and put our candid thoughts about free and low cost content management software below (Ctrl-D adds this page to "your favorites" -- apple D on mac)
Even a hosted application like blogger is a simple form of a content managment system. A full featured content management system, on the other hand, is a complicated system by nature. It's probably easier to learn HTML then it is to install some free "easy to use" content management system. However, the true beauty of one of these systems is NOT that you can edit your pages. With a full system, like some of the software mentioned below, you will have the ability to grant other's the access to edit web pages from a web browser.

Thanks

Re: Website Content Management Software

Hi All,
As the name itself implies Content Management System i.e. a system which manage the content of your site. This system is a great tool for non-technical people as they can easily publish and manage their content.
Basically there are three types of users for CMS, they are categorized as:
Content Editor, Content Publisher and Content Author.
There are different Themes and Plugins available which add plus point to the CMS.

Thanks

The basic idea is this: a model for the web site, then used to form words and images displayed on this model to create a management tool.
