I don't understand who can view my graphic design tweets. Is it just the people i follow which i don't think is the case because i see other peoples tweets and i haven't followed them.

This is the bad side of Twitter when you have around 1000 followers there would be hardly 100 people who might follow your tweets rather than you. So try to get real people with interest in whatever you are sharing and don't focus on getting more follower. You need to target people who use Twitter for getting updates rather than the people using it for more followers.
