Question about meta tags

(@Anonymous)
New Member

I know a lot of customers investigate a site before deciding whether or not to make a purchase. If someone is searching YourSite.com reviews or YourSite.com testimonials would it be a good idea to have those keywords in your meta tags so pages from your site show up on the first few pages of search results?

Re: Question about meta tags

If you have genuine testimonials on your site then you can do this. Otherwise, I would suggest refraining from it. The customer is looking for independent reviews and optimizing your site for reviews may create a sense of suspicion.

Re: Question about meta tags

Adding meta keywords can help just a bit, as long as they are actually relevant to the subject of the page. I wouldn't add meta keywords unless they are actually a focus of your page. You can be pretty sure that meta tags alone will not get you great search placement. Use h1, h2 etc tags within your web page to give more weight to the keywords you would like to get more attention, this is more important than meta keywords.

Re: Question about meta tags

Meta tags provide the website the ability to control, to a certain extent, how some search engines describe its web pages. It can also offer the ability to specify that a certain website page should not be indexed.

Re: Question about meta tags

META tags were developed and made a HTML standard for the purpose of addressing specific information about your web page that does not affect the way your page actually looks. They contain some information about your webpage helping the search engine to understand your webpage.

Meta tags are very necessary for an site's in term of SERP. It give identity to your site for that particular tag which is on your site Meta. So whenever customer get face to face with search engine to find something and whatever keyword he type that's show result and if you have a proper meta tags related to that search then your site will become on top is the major role of meta tags in site's. ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: Question about meta tags

Whether you do not have or you do have a reviews page or a testimonials page on your site, people will still try to search for it to check out if your website is a good place to buy stuff or services from. There will be people talking about how good your product or services can be and there will be those writing about their dissatisfaction about your site, hence, people'd get some reputation management for their sites.
