Well having tons of link in one page of your website distributes all of the link juice of that page plus if a web crawler finds things that are irrelevant to your website, chances of it being recognize for your niche is going to be low. it could even be described as a directory since there are tons of links in it.

Re: Link farming and its negative impacts

Link farming means getting a link or participating in link exchange to the network of spammy websites and blogs which have similar kind of content and posting articles or blog on one would automatically post the same content on all websites. According to me, Getting links from those networks would not be beneficial or harmful but giving links to those websites would as anyone can add your link if they love your website. So we do not have control of getting links but have on adding links on our website. Similarly if you have a web design business and giving free web template to anyone would also get your link if they use that template.

Re: Link farming and its negative impacts

Some website are build for a single purpose just put links in there. They don't have any original contents, pages filled with irrelevant links, links are even placed in the footer section, there are no categories for links. These websites are nothing, they don't carry any useful information. Placing links on these websites only brings Google penalty.

Re: Link farming and its negative impacts

Some negatives to link farms include:

-You have little control where your links end up

-link farms often involve sites flagged by search engines as irrelevant / bad

-if some search engines realize you are spamming your link through a link farm they may penalize you

-The links on link farms are rarely high quality links

-the links may not be permanent

Those are just some of the possible harmful effects of using link farms and you never ever want to use black hat SEO methods for any serious or legit business.

I'm not sure what you mean by "link farming", but if you mean having a bunch of junk links on your site... yeah, that's a bad idea! Junk links are worth just that... junk! 🙂

Re: Link farming and its negative impacts

As link farming is under black hat SEO so it is completely negative aspect, we should avoid link farming so that our site wouldn't be penalized by Google.

Re: Link farming and its negative impacts

Getting links from the link farm network would not put your website in any trouble but providing links to those sites would surely. Link farms are a group of websites which would provide links to each other for improvement of ranking and share content and traffic with each other. Those kinds of website don't work now days.
