I am looking to find a good place to build an information website that is fairly inexpensive. I am looking for something that isnt too limiting but isnt too complicated either. Any reccomendations? Thanks!

Re: Creating Web Site Question

Try going to some of the user groups on the internet and look for undiscovered key words then write some content for the niche

Hi Beth,

Are you looking for a place to put your site (a host), a whole package (host, domain, site template etc.) or are you looking for someone to build you an affordable site?

Cheers.

Re: Creating Web Site Question

Hostgator.com is fairly inexpensive. They only charge about $4.95/mo and I wouldn't say that they are limiting at all. They provide many usefull tools.

If you can't find anyone here to build your website how about giving some of the freelance marketplaces a try such as elance.com, rentacoder.com, or scriptlance.com a try.

Well there isn't anything more inexpensive than free and there are lots of free hosting providers on the internet. You may even be able to find some that are ad-free believe it or not. The downside would be you wouldn't get much if any help if you need it. Take a look at the forum www.freewebhostingtalk.com. Then there are cheap hosting companies that is under $5/mo that includes a free website building software which most is easy to use. Here is a small list of hosting companies that include a free website builder.

hostingzoom.com
geekstorage.com
webhostgiant.com

Re: Creating Web Site Question

I would definitely recommend WordPress and hosting/domain name registration with BlueHost. I tried some of the site builders and they were terrible. Constructing so much of the website yourself is a real pain. WordPress is awesome because there are people who know HTML that create themes for WordPress, so you just download the theme and then upload it into WordPress. There is a ton of documentation and help online for people using WordPress so it really isn’t that hard to figure out how to do new things with it. I don’t have any HTML experience but it was fairly straightforward to put up a site this way. BlueHost has a ton of tutorials too in case you need any help with that and they have fantastic tech support, who I have called a few times 😀

If you’re interested in creating a website yourself without it costing an arm and a leg you can check it out here www.CreatingaSmallBusinessWebsite.com
I hope this helps!

Re: Creating Web Site Question

Thanks for asking your question,

I do think that what you are looking for is a Blog, you can for example have a Wordpress Blog or a Blogger Blog.
Personally I work with Blogger and it is very easy to work with. The Dashboard makes it possible to easily make changes
you can have a look at my Blog(s) to get an idea what you can do with a simple Blog. Otherwise you might consider to
use both an actual website (for 'static' info) and a Blog for the content info that you frequently add or change.

All the Best,
