Hi
Benefits of online banking

All the major banks offer online banking. Online banking can provide a more efficient way of managing your bank accounts. You can:

check your balances and view statements online
move money between accounts
make payments to suppliers
set up regular payments such as salaries
order chequebooks and statements
download account information to analyse on your computer
Online banking can be very cost-effective. Charges are often lower than for ordinary accounts and accounts may offer higher interest rates. Banks usually offer online banking services at no extra cost.

Larger businesses may also be offered 'PC banking'. This requires the installation of special banking software on the computer you use to manage your account. It can offer a more effective solution if you have a large volume of banking transactions and directly link your accounting systems to your bank.

Thanks

Re: Benefits of online Banking

Hi

More people are signing up for new financial and banking services online. If your bank provides real-time online banking services, you may be able to access up-to-the-minute information about your accounts. Additionally, online banking services feature passwords and personal identification numbers (PINs) that you select. In the UK, banks are investigating the use of smart cards for accessing online banking services. Many online banking services therefore impose a second layer of security. And, with the popularity of personal online banking apparently soaring by the day, banks are now looking to expand their services to businesses online.

Thanks

Re: Benefits of online Banking

Hi

E-mail Alerts: The bank will alert you via e-mail if your bank account reaches or falls below a level you specify. Wouldn't it be nice to know you are low on cash before bouncing a payment?

Even total converts to on-line banking make the occasional trip to the teller or write spur-of-the-moment checks. Martin recommends doing your online banking with a bank that also has a neighborhood branch. Some banks are only on-line - they have no brick and mortar branches. Martin says there's no reason to be scared away from these banks; however, very few people use them. If you're interested, make sure you find out first how to make deposits, get a certified check and other services you would typically need to visit a teller or ATM to accomplish. Check on ATM fees and procedures.

Thanks

Re: Benefits of online Banking

Hi
First, online banking is convenient. It allows you to perform transactions, pay bills and check balances 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The bank virtually never closes because it is as accessible as your PC or laptop computer. No matter where you are in the country or in the world, you can visit your online bank and handle money matters. You can even schedule to pay several payees ahead of time rather than keeping up with paper bills or trying to remember when to visit a payee's web site to make an online payment. Your bank will automatically send the payments on your behalf in the amounts and on the dates you specify.

Second, online banking is fast, efficient and effective. Through the internet, transactions are typically performed and executed at a faster rate than ATM's. In addition, online banks give you the ability to handle several bank accounts (checking, savings, CDs, IRAs, etc.) from one site. The majority of banking sites are also compatible with programs like Quicken and Microsoft Money, so as to allow for more effective management of assets.

Just as with anything else, there are disadvantages to online banking.

The main issue for most people is that of trust. They may wonder if their transaction went through successfully or if they clicked on the correct button. The best way to overcome this uneasiness is to make a habit of printing the transaction receipt. Keep this receipt until your bank statement or online account view confirms that you have successfully executed the transaction.

Thanks

Re: Benefits of online Banking

With the increasing popularity of the internet, more and more industries are seeking ways to utilize this popular medium in an effort to keep up with the changing technological preferences of their customers. These days you can do just about anything online from grocery shopping to making a free phone call to a friend in Tokyo through your PC. The possibilities of the internet are seemingly endless and the banking industry has decided that it will not be left behind. While most people have at least heard of online banking, the majority of them have probably not tried it yet. Maybe it's because we find more comfort in working with real people and real paper when it comes to money matters rather than performing transactions in the seemingly impersonal universe of the World Wide Web. Whatever the case may be, there are both advantages and disadvantages to online banking. This article will outline these advantages and disadvantages so you can either feel justified in your fears or see online banking as a safe way to quickly and efficiently manage your finances.

Re: Benefits of online Banking

The foremost advantage of online banking is that it is convenient for customers. Rather than having to go to the bank lobby or drive-thru during business hours, they can sign on to see their account at any time. Once online, customers can see what deposits and withdrawals have been made as well as whether or not the transactions have been completed. It is easier to keep track of fees charged to accounts, especially those accumulated from using foreign ATMs.

Re: Benefits of online Banking

Online banking can be done anywhere, as long as you have an Internet connection. Even if you are traveling on business or holiday, they can handle their banking needs. Some banks, like Bank of America, have even created mobile applications that make banking easier for those that have a smartphone like the Apple iPhone or iTouch, or Blackberry.

Re: Benefits of online Banking

Personally, I prefer a hybrid approach. I use a local bank, which also allows me to online banking. But the savings, I use ING Direct, which requires the balance 0, and offers a very competitive rate, much higher than the meager 0.0124% or whatever the interest rate on your account mainstream.
