Re: What Are the Benefits of Setting Goals?

Hello Friends,
An attitudinal characteristic found among top achievers is that they set goals. They take advantage of the numerous benefits goal-setting offers. Most of us view goal-setting as a laborious exercise fraught with uncertainty. Did you know that only 5% of North Americans are committed to written goals ? I'm not talking about writing a to-do list scribbled on a Post-It-Note or a napkin. I mean a clear, concisely written goal. The to-do list simply represents a shopping list of activities, chores to be performed throughout your day. As a sales entrepreneur, you must get into the mental habit of thinking in terms of end results rather than being satisfied with "busywork."There is a parade of excuses as to why people do not set goals. The most common one is, "They don't work," or even worse, "How do I know what I'll be doing in five years?" Instead of creating our future, we have been conditioned to react to the present. Too many people today seek the quick fix, hoping for some rescue fantasy to magically appear and salvage them from their boring life of routine and occasional luck.

Re: What Are the Benefits of Setting Goals?

The Top 6 Benefits of Setting Goals are:

You will have more CLARITY: You have to know where you want to go to get there. Setting goals requires you to develop clarity. This is the first and most important step to creating a life that you love and want.

You will develop a stronger FOCUS: Whatever you focus on your get more of: if you have clear goals and focus on them, you will get more of what you DO want (your goals) and less of what you don't want.

When you get clear about where you want to go, you set up steps and actions to get there. This increases your efficiency because you are working on what is really important. When you work on what's important, you will accomplish more than you ever expected.

You will get what you really want in life, rather than settling for 'whatever comes you way'.

As you set and reach goals, you become more confident in your ability to do what you say and get what you want in life. Success breeds more successes.

And the number 1 benefit of setting goals is...

1. R-E-S-U-L-T-S

Only 3% of people in the U.S. have written goals, and according to research, these people accomplish 80% more than those who don't. That's an astounding difference, isn't it?

Re: What Are the Benefits of Setting Goals?

Setting goals isn't always top priority. With hectic schedules and limited time, we rush through every day, scratching to get everything done.

What if your days could be more productive? There is a way--set some goals for yourself. Listed below are five benefits of setting goals.

1 - You will save time. By setting goals, you will be able to cut out a huge chunk of wasted time each day. Saving time means you'll have extra time to do more important things.

2 - You will be more productive. Setting goals helps you to determine what needs to be done and when. You'll get more things done in a fair amount of time, rather than wasting precious moments trying to figure out what hasn't been done yet.

3 - You will eliminate questions. When you have a solid list of goals, you will always be prepared. There will never be a question about tasks or appointments. You will know exactly what needs to be done and when.

4 - You will feel less stressed. Setting goals can totally eliminate the stress factor from your life. When are you most stressed? It's probably when you are unsure of what lies ahead. You can throw that stress right out the window simply by setting a few goals for yourself.

5 - You will stay on track. Goals are just a roadmap to help you get where you are going. Lay out a plan to help keep you headed in the right direction. List the steps you need to take you to where you want to be.

Re: What Are the Benefits of Setting Goals?

First of all your goals should be realistic. You should have short term goals and long term goals. Your goals should be written down on paper and posted where you can see them everyday. Your goals will encounter obstacles, do not let that deter you from achieving them. Once you have established your goals you will need a g**e plan on how to achieve those goals, and it usually requires that you continue your education. I am 44, and after 24 years in the military, I am back in college working on my BA. My goals have changed due to the fact that I have 3 kids to send to college in the future and that is my main goal.
