Once you've done your homework and you're ready to get your home business started, here are 8 steps you can follow and use as a checklist to establish an identity for your home business:
1. Brainstorming Your Business Name and Tagline
Brainstorm Your Business Name and Tagline
Your business name and its tagline can create excitement and buzz for your home business and will be an important part of your later marketing efforts.
2. Establishing an Address and Phone Numbers for Your Home Business
Completing this step early means that your home address and phone number won't become public record when you do register your business.
3. Checking into an Employer ID Number with the IRS
Even if you're not required to have an EIN, getting one is often a good idea. For one thing, it makes it easier to open a bank account in your business name and it will help keep your social security number private.
4. Opening a Business Bank Account
Part of having a business identity is to keep your business finances separate from your personal finances. There's just no better way to do that than to open a business checking account.
5. Creating Your Business Logo
A good logo goes a long way in establishing your business identity. Your logo should reflect what your business does. It should be unique, eye-catching and easy to identify.
6. Ordering Your Business Cards
Since a business card is often your first impression on a prospect, you don't want to jeopardize getting new business because you didn't bother to have your business cards professionally printed.
7. Creating and Ordering Your Business Stationery
You can buy stationery or create it yourself. Again, you can use tools like Microsoft Publisher for this purpose, and plenty of design templates are provided to make creating custom stationery easy.
8. Establishing an Online Presence for Your Business
Websites serve as a useful form of inexpensive advertising for most businesses. Even the most basic of websites can work well as your online brochure. You may also decide to set up a blog for your home business - either in conjunction with, or instead of, a home business website.
Re: The Way to Gett Your Business Identity Established?
There are so many get rich quick blogs out there you know the “for a limited tie offer” “only five more spots available”…. hey i ain’t knocking them, they have fond away to get rich quick. sadly to say the people who buy them just need a little more direction and explanation on alot of the stuff that is covered in the “e-book, or seminar. you usually pay for the first e-book, then they say to understand more fully please get this upgrade etc. WOW…I don’t think that is right. If some one says they will reveal all the things that they say they will provide you with, i think they should provide you with it. I think they do this for a few reasons one is they just don’t really know the information that they claim too, or too they just want to rip you off. That’s not cool. There are a lot of legit sites out there that want to help people out. like this site for example. hehe… and another great site I have recently found is johnchow.com No i am not an affiliate of his, I would like to be..but When i find something really good on the Internet I like to share it with the little audience that I do have. if you sign up for his newsletter he tells yo straight up what his agenda is and How you can benefit from starting a blog. Now a blog is not the only way you can make money online. And John Chow says that it shouldn’t be the only reason to blog. He says you should find something that you are passionate about and start to blog about it, then you should have enough content to blog and update your blog on a regular basis. I think that that is so true. I really need to find time during my day, and schedule it in. Don’t be fooled, those get rich blogs if you follow their pattern and do what they are doing then no doubt you can get rich quick too. I think it’s great to have a cause and a great motive behind it.
