As a consulting company with only 2 employees, less than 2 months. That was our second job and we were about $500 in expenses in the hole when that came in.

With little to no overhead, about 2 months. I underpriced my services early in order to "get a foot in the door" though so it wasnt as much as I would have liked. Starting to increase prices now as my customers are very happy and will give testimonials if I ask them to.

Re: How long did it take you to become profitable?

I made a post in a forum the day I launched my first ecommerce site. There were 10 sales that day from forum members. It's been 5 years now and that site has never had a day without sales since. The cost to create the site was a couple hours of my time, a $13 template, and a $7 domain. Payments came through PayPal, so no SSL certificate or shopping carts to buy, in the beginning at least. I was reselling products at a markup, that I didn't need to buy until after I made a sale, so there was no inventory cost.

Nice information. I noticed that a lot of people are benefiting from limiting their initial investments, which is a great way to start a new business. Bringing in a new client at the very beginning is a HUGE plus. Have a good plan, and invest small amounts for products or additional services as needed. As you grow, you will be able to forecast your operational costs based on passed experience.

It depends on your product sales, if the quality of your product is good, if customers are satisfied with your products and services I think you easily achieve your goal in short time.
