Ethical Business Practices

New Member

Ethical business practices are actions and attitudes held by a business and its employees that are considered professionally and morally responsible. These types of practices typically seek to promote the goals of the company without sacrificing the common good of its employees, customers, and even competitors. This often includes programs to ensure fair hiring and promotion within a company, treating customers fairly, and being honest in regard to programs to increase sales. Ethical business practices are often initiated as a “top down” program, with corporate officers and the heads of the company acting as role models of behavior for other employees.

Re: Ethical Business Practices

Business ethics (also corporate ethics) is a form of applied ethics or professional ethics that examines ethical principles and moral or ethical problems that arise in a business environment. It applies to all aspects of business conduct and is relevant to the conduct of individuals and entire organizations.

Re: Ethical Business Practices

If there are ethical practices, there are also the bad side. Some people consider the following:
Lack of compassion
Dumping of wastes (toxic) in the wrong places
Monopoly
*** or drug trafficking
racism
genocide

Re: Ethical Business Practices

In college I took a couple of different classes based solely on learning about business and corporate ethics and found them to be extremely valuable. When money and power are involved ethical lines can often become blurred and there is a lot responsibility on all of us to make sure companies are acting appropriately. I think one of the best things we all can do is not only support the most ethical products but within our own jobs we can try to act as ethically as possible. This is such a great topic and one that I think should be brought up more within the corporate environment.

Re: Ethical Business Practices

How many businesses are actually ethical or implement ethical ways of working, building relationships with likeminded companies. Too many firms pay lip service to this without actually believing in the ethics.

Re: Ethical Business Practices

Ethics are very important. In every work, that one does, there are values present. A man is not known by how much money he earns but by the values and virtues present in him. A man earning less money with good ethics and values is considered of as a good person.

Re: Ethical Business Practices

I just realized this thread is a bit old. But -

Ethical business practice is one of the best way to get - and keep - customers. With so many corporations going the other way, people really love those who go the extra mile to do what's right. In this economy, such a reputation can set you apart from your competitors and give you an edge. However, doing it for the "edge," isn't the right reason. Doing it because it's right is. It just so happens that there are rewards to be had by doing so.

In furtherance of our commitment to business ethics and compliance, every year we roll out new mandatory online compliance training on important risk areas. Not only do these courses increase awareness, they also help our employees worldwide understand and access resources that enable responsible behavior and enhance regulatory compliance. Recent courses covered the topics of social media and export compliance.
