Has anyone found any good analytical tools to evaluate a companies financials and benchmark their performance? There seems to be a lot of product out there but it is rather free and no good or too expensive and robust.

Re: Analytical Tools

But software experts and HR practitioners agree that technology is no substitute for sound business expertise. While analytics are becoming an integral part of many human resource systems, some industry observers wonder whether HR is ready to exploit the technology, because practitioners may be locked into the habit of simply collecting data. Those who break out of that mold can use the tools to determine whether the workforce makeup fits the company's business strategy, for example.

Software vendors increasingly are offering such tools. PeopleSoft USA Inc. includes workforce analytics in its Enterprise Performance Management series of products, says Row Henson, co-founder of the Pleasanton, Calif., company. "Through our workplace portal, we're offering analytics to every employee in the enterprise, whether CEO, line manager or employee," Henson says.

Re: Analytical Tools

An analytical tool is something used to analyze or "take a closer look at" something. It is normally a way to review the effectiveness of something.

For example, google offers a free web analytics tool that is used by Web Masters to track visitors on a given site. It allows Web Masters to see where visitors are coming from, how long they stay, what links they are reviewing, etc.

Analytic Tool help with Tracking and Reports!

Hi,

I guess if we can get companies previous quarterly results (which are easy available), we can use excel spreadsheet and utilize the financial functions. We can make trend analysis there, graphs/charts are also helpful.

One can hire an excel macro expert.

Thanks

Sisense is great. It lets you collect the data from various sources and analyze it, and it's not complicated at all.

Scorecard and Sisense are tools I'll definitely look into. The only tool I've used extensively as far as analytics is concerned is Google Analytics.
