When working internationally, there are certain principles that are good to remember:
1. Acknowledge differences exist
2. Understand and analyse why those differences exist
3. Appreciate the unique values, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviours of different cultures
4. Adapt your behaviour — including your cross-cultural communication _style_ — to meet the needs of others.
5. Be sensitive to feedback and adapt accordingly.
When things just don’t seem to be going right… Remember:

In order for these 5 to work for you, you need to actually learn what the other culture is, and not just understand that it exists and why it exists. For you to interact with other cultures and be on the same page you need to really understand what the other culture is, what their history is, and how they interact with others. Study their behavioral patterns, what makes them happy, what makes them angry etc. If you can do all this then you can not only create working opportunities between yourself and others from different cultures, but you can master it and make it become very successful.
