What is Women-Owned business?

Federal and state government agencies do not provide any special structure to register or form women-owned companies. There is no special terminology used to form a women-own company with the federal and state. But there are some special programs are available on federal, state and county levels.

Women-Owned business is any business that is ran, operated and managed by a woman. In the US, it's not unheard of to get many of these businesses.

It's a business 51% owned, operated and controlled on a daily basis by women. It can be small or big business, but it's mostly defined by ownership structure.

If your ownership structure is majority women-oriented, you should have no trouble to apply for any of the programs requiring to do so.

No matter what the levels are, it comes down to ownership structure. If it's over 51% you are good to go.

In different countires it may mean different things. But in most parts it means this:

Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) is defined as one that is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled on a daily basis by one or more female American citizens. WBEs are typically certified by a third-party, city, state or federal agency.

A quick Google search revealed this.
