Online Clothing Company

We are starting up a new clothing line and we're interested in selling it online. We already have a domain name and a website design, it's just not currently launched.

At the moment, we're not in the financial position to actually "start" our business, we want to do a soft launch so that we can earn a little extra money to put towards our company.

I am wondering if you think that what I am doing right now will work to earn a little extra money until we're ready to officially start our business.

Our company is called BLACKjax Clothing and we will be offering clothing/accessories with a country-rock fusion style. Right now, we have a Facebook fan page with shirts that I created using a online custom shirt printer such as Zazzle.com (we don't physically have the products). Our idea is that when someone tells us that they want one of our shirts, we have them pay us via PayPal ($5 over the original price of the shirt) order the shirt from the online custom shirt manufacturer, then have them ship it directly to the customer's house. Do you think that this will work?

Also another question, the custom shirt manufacture that we're using doesn't seem to be charging us tax. We are in California - do we need to be charging tax on the shirts that we sell?

Thank you for your time and help.
