Investment Club

Ok, I have been kicking around this idea for a while now so I though I would run it by you guys and see what you think.

There has been a growing interest in investment clubs over the past few years. Most of these clubs just invest in the DOW and NASDAQ stocks. I would like to start an investment c**b to invest in small businesses and small start ups.

Does anyone think there would be enough interest in something like this to make it work? Any comments?

Thanks
Mark

Sure things. It depends however how would you guarantee the investments and what would you offer to the investors. You could try running some kind of HYIP but they are giving too high interest in return. I like your idea, but probably you'll need to go into more details.

Old concept

Investment clubs such as you describe, have been around for more years than I can remember, and I'm no longer young. There are MANY clubs formed for the purpose of buying into startups and into small businesses. Obviously it works, or the clubs wouldn't continue to appear. Some of these clubs are very informal, and started by a few people sitting around chatting about this and that. Others are more structured. You just have to decide on one or two specific investments that you have in mind, then start contacting your friends and associates to convince them to join in with you on a financial basis. Do your homework first, then move forward step by step.

Re: Investment c**b

# Group Portfolio Clubs: Investment decisions are taken by all the members of the c**b after thorough research. All the members share their ideas and the c**b makes an investment only after reaching a consensus through a voting system. Members who are investing more money have a higher say in the decision making. Group portfolio clubs operate like mutual funds and offer an opportunity to new and small-scale investors to gain exposure to large investments. These clubs can save on taxes by structuring themselves as partnerships or limited liability firms.

# Self-Directed Investment Clubs: Members conduct regular meetings to share their ideas and views on investments. They also meet to discuss specific strategies.

Re: Investment c**b

A very good idea but very risky. You have to include some procedure for extracting the funds back again.

Re: Investment c**b

Hello friends

If you want to start investment c**b is a fun, easy way to learn about investing. It is risky and exciting as you and co-members either increase or decrease your financial holdings by pooling funds and investing together on a regular basis. It can also be a fun excuse for a regular social gathering or a way to educate kids about finance.

Thanks to all:............

Re: Investment c**b

Hi guys

Introduce the idea of forming an investment c**b to people you know who have expressed interest in following the stock or bond markets.
Agree on common goals for the group. Members who are involved for social or educational reasons may not mix well with serious investors.
Agree on the level of financial commitment members will make. A large monthly contribution may eliminate members over the long run. Small investments may frustrate investors who want to commit large amounts of cash in hopes of seeing a larger return.

Thanks
