Try going to your bank first. It is helpful to try to establish a relationship with a bank and utilize some of their services i.e. checking, online banking etc so when you need help you will have an institution to turn to.

You can advertise in your local paper for investors or approach family and friends

Better yet try going to a credit union you will get better rates than a traditional bank and almost everyone can join a credit union under the new rules there are even websites that help you determine what credit union you qualify for.

You should look at the online services to get loans for your business, there are various services which helps you and provide funds for starting a business. You have to choose them carefully. But I am not sure in your case because maybe they will not provide loans for an ebay store.

I know Merchcash, a small business lender that has helped over 300,000 small business owners for their businesses. Small business loans are available to practically every type of business if you know where to look. They helped people in all types of businesses, from restaurant owners and automotive repairs to beauty business and franchise operators.

I agree with Alice, As a broker, I can tell you that I have lenders for pretty much any business situation. The only soft spot in the market right now are start-ups.

If funding doesn't seem easy in your case, then you can start working as mediator or partner with/for some existing ebay seller. After a couple of months you can start you won business with your savings and meanwhile you may get funding opportunities nearby you.

While I don't normally advice people to start a business with a loan, there are many available options you can pursue to secure funding. Alternatively, I can simply advice you to put away some savings first, then use that to start your business at a later date.

Friends and family are a viable way to go or even pitching venture capitalists. If it's a good business idea and you can sell/market the concept well, funding becomes less hard to acquire.

If you have a good pitch and can find somebody to vouch. Banks can do pretty good business loans that would be able to get you off the ground until you can repay them.

I would avoid banks and try friends and family. However, if it's a big investment, it may be difficult to "sell" that pitch.
