How would you convince someone to sponsor you?

(@Anonymous)

Hey,

If suppose, you were in the need of a sponsor, what would you do?

How would you approach him/her? What would you offer them in return?

I would basically send out their links in Newsletters...their banner in our "random" banner system.

Please post your thoughts 😀

Thank you.

It depends on what you mean by sponsor if you mean they would provide you a large loan then the best way to approach them is to take the same approach you would at a bank and put a business plan together and if they want a piece of the business develop a partnership agreement.

If by sponsor you mean trying to help them out and promote their business, rather than just sending out links I would profile them in my newsletter with a description of their product and your endorsement (of course if you believe in the product)

Eminem based on your posts in this forum it looks like you have a lot of experience I think the best way for you to sponsor someone is to give them the benefit of your experience and what has worked/not worked for you.

There are often a lot of synergies between companies that are overlooked, I am sure that if you spend sometime looking at their site you would be able to offer something in return that may not be advertising related. It maybe to support them in another way that focuses on your expertise ie. if you develop websites you could offer to do a new home page or site for them.

Re: How would you convince someone to sponsor you?

I would go to them with a very focused presentation with the following outline:

1. Observations about their business and identifying potential problems you could solve

2. How you solved them for other clients

3. The benefits enjoyed by your client after you solved their solution

4. What your proposition is for this prospect

5. What the time/cost or other determining factors are

6. Describe an implementation strategy

I think it is not only about convincing anyone to spend on your business, you need to find the perfect investor for your business, it is an important decision to find the right investor for your service. You can convince anyone by giving the profit details of your business.

@Bizwiz Your strategy would possibly work and make someone invest in your idea.

If you are a business person just put yourself in your sponsors' shoes

For a potential sponsor to sponsor your event, there must be clear-cut benefits to their organization. By pitching the benefits based on your potential sponsors’ expectations and asking the question, “if I were in their shoes why would I want to sponsor the event,” you’re making it more about them than about you – and people always want to know what’s in it for them!
